You are a trusted Salesforce Forward Deployment Engineer (FDE) and your project stalled. Your client’s data reliability was the reason. Not the configuration, not the requirements, not the agent logic. Assumptions were made about the state of the data, but the reality was different; this is the data knowledge gap. Cuneiform for Salesforce was built to address this discrepancy and close the gap.

Stop Doing Data Discovery the Hard Way

FDEs are operating at the forefront of the agentic era; embedded with customers, writing code, designing Agentforce solutions, and serving as the strategic technical partner who turns vision into production reality. The mission is high-stakes and high-velocity: in sprint cycles that compress years of experience into months, there isn’t time for the traditional data discovery loop.

But the traditional loop keeps showing up anyway. Because every customer’s data is different, and most customers don’t actually know what’s in their own data.

The average FDE engagement encounters the same friction points before a working first version is reached. Multiple build/break/rebuild cycles occur because of data assumptions that didn’t hold. Data discovery with interview-based approaches takes ~6 weeks before the agent build begins. Discrepancies between assumptions about the data and the reality are discovered mid-project, requiring rework and delayed value realization after commitments are made.

These aren’t edge cases. They’re the structural cost of going into an Agentforce build without first knowing your customer data. Cuneiform for Salesforce accelerates and de-risks discovery, knowing the data first, reducing project friction before it can cost you and your client.

The Risk Isn’t Just Delivery Delay. Agents Can Be Confidently Wrong.

The bigger risk isn’t a stalled sprint. It’s deploying an agent that is confidently wrong.

Agents are only as effective as the data context they reason over. Before any AI agent can score a lead, deflect a case, or recommend the next best action, it needs access to reliable signals within your client’s Salesforce data. When fields are blank, unreliable, or customer records are fragmented, the agent does not fail visibly. Instead, it produces confident-sounding outputs based on incomplete information.

Cuneiform for Salesforce provides you with the insights you need by analyzing the specific business-relevant objects, records, and fields your Agentforce use case depends on, surfaces exactly where the data gaps are, and gives your team the remediation targets and monitoring cadences needed to make AI deployment something you can stand behind.

Ensure Project Success Without Unnecessary Data Cleanup

FDEs are tasked with delivering business value grounded in use cases that are valuable and viable, with data security ensured and reliable context to drive adoption; not another data cleanup project that can take months to complete. Instead, the goal of an FDE is to deliver value when data is fit for purpose, provide a path to continuous data quality, and increase business value.

Cuneiform for Salesforce is the only 100% native CRM and Data 360 profiling and monitoring solution; it’s been selected by Salesforce as the Preferred Data Assessment and Monitoring Solution for Customer Success. Cuneiform has been featured in multiple Salesforce FDE training sessions, reflecting the growing recognition across the field organization that data assessment is a prerequisite to successful Agentforce delivery.

The data never leaves the client’s org. With no external API calls and no required data exports, Cuneiform eliminates security review friction. Cuneiform already runs in Org62 production with 600+ scenarios and 1.4 billion records analyzed to date.

The operational impact is measurable: Cuneiform reduces manual data analysis by approximately 6 FTE weeks. That’s six weeks of SOQL queries, spreadsheets, and tribal knowledge archaeology that gets replaced by a profiling definition configurable in hours.

“In less than 4 hours, we discovered our fundamental assumptions about the data were wrong.” – Data Architect, Salesforce Professional Services

These aren’t marketing anecdotes. They’re the outcome of front-loading data discovery; finding in hours what would have taken weeks to surface mid-build, and finding it early enough to change the approach rather than rebuild it.

How CfSF Works in Practice

Cuneiform operates through the six-phase framework Know Your Customer Data (KYCD).

Phase 1: Profile

Assess what you’re actually working with. Before writing a single line of agent logic, FDEs use Cuneiform to run field-level profiling across the CRM and Data 360 objects, including zero-copy sources, relevant to the engagement (population rates, distinct ratios, default value percentages, duplicate ratios) in minutes, not weeks. This is the step that surfaces the assumptions that would otherwise reveal mid-build.

Phase 2: Understand

Connect the state of data to agentic behavior. Interpret your profiling results in the context of your business to determine which fields are relevant and reliable enough for agent reasoning, and which should be excluded from agent access entirely. Equally important is data fragmentation; duplicate records, unlinked transactions, and missing relationship fields mean the agent is working from an incomplete picture of the customer without knowing it. Surface current access controls and fragmentation risks before they can affect agent behavior in production.

Phase 3: Prioritize

Know what to fix before setting project goals and committing to timelines. Now that you understand the state of your data, you can easily identify what data is already fit for purpose and prioritize remediation efforts for low-quality, high-impact data.

Phase 4: Mitigate

Target remediation where it will actually change outcomes. Verify mitigation effectiveness with Cuneiform’s before-and-after profiling, or by comparing results across objects to confirm data transformation effectiveness.

Phase 6: Monitor

Continuously track data reliability metrics over time to maintain and improve data reliability. KYCD provides clients and FDEs a continuous signal on whether the data layer is holding as agents are used in production.

Phase 6: Maintain

Leave the client with a repeatable process, not a one-time cleanup. The institutional data knowledge built during an FDE engagement compounds across every subsequent initiative; profiling definitions persist, baselines exist, and the next project starts from understanding rather than assumptions. This is what transforms a single engagement into a lasting capability the customer can sustain independently. KYCD is easily operationalized into standard operating procedures.

Enhance Agentforce Engagements

Every Agentforce engagement will benefit from implementing KYCD with Cuneiform for Salesforce.

Delivery Velocity: Expedited data discovery compresses weeks of manual work into hours. The unplanned discovery loop that stalls mid-project gets eliminated before it starts.

Investment Confidence: The KYCD cycle produces evidence-based priorities before resources are committed. You know what to trust, what to remediate, and what to retire before the build begins.

Agent Reliability: Hallucination Risk scoring, Data Dictionary Completeness, and Fragmented Customer Data Risk indicators tell you whether the data your agents will reason on is fit-for-purpose before deployment, not after.

Post-go-live Stability: Data changes constantly. Monitoring capabilities provide leading indicators of degradation before it shows up as a missed SLA or a support ticket.

Address hallucination and missing-context risk before they happen. Cuneiform’s customizable Agentforce Data Risk dashboard surfaces these risks before they can reach a deployed agent.

Key insights with KYCD include:

  • Unused Fields Visibility Risk: Know which fields have never been populated. Agents will use lack of data as a real signal.
  • Fragmented Customer Data Risk: See customers that appear across multiple records; highlight unified contact point fields. Without unification, your agent is working with an incomplete picture.
  • Unlinked Transaction Data: Identify the transaction records that are not linked to a customer via reference fields. Agents cannot reason about customer history if records are not connected.
  • Data Dictionary Completeness: Find the fields without descriptions or help text. Agents use this metadata to determine which fields to reason over, without this data the agent is guessing.

Start in the Trialforce Org

The fastest way to understand what Cuneiform for Salesforce can surface in a client engagement is to try it in a dedicated Trialforce environment first. The Trialforce org includes a pre-built Case Deflection Agent demo use case. CRM and third-party data sources are pre-configured, allowing you to see exactly what Agentforce Data Risk Indicators look like before you bring Cuneiform into a client conversation.

FAQs

I know the Salesforce platform inside and out, isn’t that enough to evaluate my client’s data?

No, platform knowledge and data knowledge are different things. An FDE may know exactly how to configure an Agentforce agent, but without profiling the underlying data, there’s no way to know whether a field is reliably populated, whether a match key is consistent enough for Data 360 unification, or whether a missing field value will cause an agent to act on a false assumption. Cuneiform for Salesforce closes the gap between what the platform is configured to do and what the data will actually support. This is why data assessment is a prerequisite to successful Agentforce delivery, not a parallel workstream.

Do customers need a separate tool or login to view profiling results with their implementation team?

No. Cuneiform for Salesforce is 100% native and installed directly in the customer’s org, any user with the appropriate Salesforce permission set assigned can access and view profiling results without a separate tool, login, or external dashboard. Consultants, architects, admins, and client stakeholders all work from the same profiling data in the same environment they already use. Collaboration happens naturally without adding process overhead or security complexity to the engagement.

What data risks should I look for before deploying an AI agent in Salesforce?

The highest-impact risks to identify before deploying an Agentforce agent are: fields that are never or rarely populated (agents treat missing data as a real signal), fragmented customer records where the same person or company appears across multiple records without unification, transaction records unlinked to customer records (preventing agents from reasoning about history), and fields without metadata descriptions or help text (forcing agents to guess a field’s purpose). Cuneiform for Salesforce surfaces all of these through its Agentforce Data Risk dashboard, including hallucination risk scores, fragmented customer data risk indicators, and data dictionary completeness metrics, before they can reach a deployed agent.

Does profiling a Salesforce CRM org require a Data 360 license?

No. Cuneiform for Salesforce supports CRM-only profiling without requiring a Data 360 license. Data 360 capability (covering Data Lake Objects, Data Model Objects, and Zero-Copy sources) is additive and available when the engagement scope includes it, but it is not a prerequisite for profiling core Salesforce CRM data. FDEs can begin profiling a client’s CRM org immediately after installation regardless of the client’s Data 360 licensing status.

How long does it take to profile a Salesforce org?

With Cuneiform for Salesforce, profiling definitions can be configured in under five minutes using either the Cuneiform CLI or the native Salesforce UI. Profiling runs typically complete in minutes; a documented example shows 524 fields on the Case object profiled in under nine minutes. The full data assessment that would otherwise take weeks of manual SOQL analysis is replaced by a same-day process. Across FDE engagements, Cuneiform reduces manual data analysis by approximately six FTE weeks, finding in hours what would otherwise surface mid-build, early enough to change the approach rather than rebuild it.

Can a third-party tool be installed and used inside a client’s Salesforce org?

Yes. Cuneiform for Salesforce is Salesforce TPSA-approved for both internal and client org use. Because Cuneiform is 100% native, no external API calls, no data exports, and no external data storage, and it passes most InfoSec reviews without friction. In practice, this means no security review process delays engagement start, the client’s data never leaves their environment at any point, and installation can happen in minutes without altering existing data structures.

How is Cuneiform for Salesforce different from other Salesforce data quality tools?

Most data quality tools focus on remediation: cleaning, enriching, or deduplicating data. Cuneiform for Salesforce focuses on assessment and monitoring; understanding what the data actually contains, what it means in business context, and whether it is fit for a specific purpose such as powering an Agentforce agent. Cuneiform is the only native Salesforce solution that profiles CRM, Data 360, and Zero-Copy data within a single engine, without moving data outside the org. For FDEs specifically, that distinction matters most at the start of an engagement: remediation tools tell you what to fix eventually; Cuneiform tells you what your agents can trust right now and what needs to be addressed before you build on it.
